I am interested in being considered for the position of international judge because I have 16 years experience as a pole dancer, pole dancing instructor and fitness & figure athlete. Jamilla Deville ~ Australia
One of the first pole instructors in Australia, and Australia’s original Pole Dance Champion, Jamilla Deville’s background in dance is rich. Having trained in jazz ballet, adagio, trapeze, corde lisse and silks, her understanding of the principles of pole dancing are unparalleled. She performed at the Sydney Olympics Opening Ceremony in 2000 as well as at the National Circus and Theatre Conference later that year, and, as a core member of the Fantasy Las Vegas cast for over three years, Jamilla became renowned for her strength, athleticism and grace.
When Sydney’s first school opened Jamilla was instructing from day one and continued to perform regularly, giving her students the opportunity to learn and be inspired by the possibilities of pole dance in full flight.
In May 2005, Jamilla won the Miss Pole Dance Australia competition. In the same year, she became the face of X-Pole Australia.
In 2006 Jamilla created the International Pole Federation, an organisation designed to address standards in the pole dance and fitness industry, and founded her own school, The Art of Pole, which continues today with a student base of hundreds of women who have been inspired by Jamilla’s own passion for the art of pole dancing.
Since opening her own school, Jamilla has been invited to instruct in other schools across the world, including the US, the UK, Europe, and South East Asia. To date, she has toured her classes to the USA (twice), Singapore, Thailand, and New Zealand (also twice). Jamilla has also trained instructors from all over Australia, including Tasmania, Western Australia, Queensland, South Australia, Victoria and New South Wales.
Jamilla’s crowning glory came in 2007 when she created the first two highly anticipated volumes in her instructional DVD series, The Art of Pole. The series broke new ground and was praised internationally, even being described as “the pole dancing bible”. In 2008 she continued the series, adding three new volumes, bringing the series up to advanced level and supporting the many students worldwide who were ready for more difficult moves. The Art of Pole DVD Collection has grown to five full-length volumes ranging from absolute beginners to advanced and is selling worldwide to countries as diverse as Argentina to Finland to New Zealand and everywhere in between, through the official website, http://www.artofpole.com. Jamilla is looking forward to creating further volumes in the series.
Pippa Caesar UK Judge
I am a total, self confessed pole addict and incredibly lucky to have found such a wonderful fitness activity and be a part of such a supportive industry. As the owner and director of Polenastics Ltd and one of the instructors of a team of good friends, I am living proof of the pole dream!
Finding pole at the ripe old age of 35, back in 2006, I have enjoyed a wonderful pole journey from student to instructor to the owner of Polenastics Ltd. I work with and have met some gorgeous people in the industry and am very blessed to have discovered the strength my body was hiding from me all those years!
I am lucky enough to have been trained by some of the world’s best polers and aerialists including: Alesia Vazmitsel (semi finalist on Britain’s Got Talent 2010 and second runner up Miss Pole Dance World 2009), the fantastic Pantera, Jenyne Butterfly, Deb Riley, Sally-Ann Giles, Suzie Q, Jamilla Deville, Jessalyn Medairy, Henka Venelaar, Amber Ray, Felix Cane, Karen Chaundy, Donna Gant, Alethea Austin, Estee Zakar and KT Coats. I have had silks and hoops training and training in Chinese Pole technique. I have hosted master classes for national pole schools for their pole students and trained other pole instructors including Loïc Lebret from Paris and Anna-Marie from Berkshire Alternative Dance.
I am thrilled to be one of the judges for the preliminaries heats at World Pole Dance 2010 to be held in Zurich in October 2010, and for 2 heats and the final of the Pole Divas Championships 2010. I was also honoured to be selected as one of the 9 strong judging panel for the 2010 NSPDS (National Synchronised Pole Dance Squad) competition and voted by the panel to be voted one of the 2 official head judges. I thoroughly LOVED being one of the official pole cleaners for the 2009 UKAPP heats and final too =D.
You will often see me at competitions, master classes, jams, pole events and performances in order to satisfy my thirst to share, perfect and learn new pole moves and teaching tips. I also LOVE running Polenastics, we have a fantastic, creative and strong pole family – I am VERY proud of what the Polenastics team has achieved and look forward to sharing this fitness craze for many more years to come.

I have been pole dancing since 2005 and instructing since 2007.
My love of pole started with a pole hen party, where i took to it like a duck to water and just wanted to learn more, and from that first lesson wanted to teach pole.
I am REPs accredited and hold an Exercise to Music Level 2 qualification, and am a Qualified Pole Passion Level 1 and Advanced Instructor Level 2 instructor.
I not only teach pole dance for my company South Pole AKademy, but also deliver pole dance instructor training internationally for Pole Passion (www.polepassion.com/fitness/become-instructor)
In 2009 myself and my synchronized pole dance (and South Pole AKademy) partner Cat were ranked third in the UK for doubles pole in Miss Pole Dance UK 2009 Championship! Our first ever competition!
I was also invited by Pole Passion to teach for them at the world festival of pole dance in Jamaica, March 2010 - which was an amazing experience! Teaching beginners pole trix lessons, the practical element of the instructor level one certificate, and aerobics too (on a beach!)
I have had the privilege of training with some of the world’s best pole dancers including Jenyne Butterfly, Felix Cane, Jamilla Deville, Maxine Betts, Alesia Vazmitsel, Deb Riley to name but a few.
My background has stemmed from many types of dance, performing arts and martial arts, but pole has taken over! I have always been a keen fitness and health enthusiast participating in many types of sport throughout my life, including tennis and aerobics. My background working in Pharmacy has also given me a good grounding in anatomy and physiology which I reference constantly when instructing. Teaching pole fitness makes me feel so happy... and so lucky! I can not think of anything better than teaching people and seeing the joy of them achieving 'that move' they have been working on, and seeing them get more confident, stronger and fitter.
In 2010 I have been involved in the i-phone app ‘pocket pole studio’ which has been great fun to be a part of and I was over the moon to be asked to be a part of it.
My other proud achievements have been chosen as a model for the R-pole series and have the privilege of being involved in testing all the poles also being an official face of R-pole too - To be one of the judges for NSPDS ‘routine for the nation’ May 2010, where I undertook, as a group, a days intensive training on how to judge a pole competition. This was a valuable experience and I wish to extend my judging further. I also performed at the competition with my pole doubles partner Cat to demonstrate advanced level doubles pole to the competitors and the audience.

Aimee Lawson UK
I took dance classes from an early age and grew up loving to dance. I tried many different and crazy things but I always came back to dance. I took a summer course in 1997 and gained an NCFE in Dance Performing Arts and I went on to take the next level the summer after. The next level up was a performing arts diploma specializing in Dance; I took this alongside studying for my A-levels. However after a back injury I was forced to leave just before completing my first year. It was then that I thought I would never go back to dancing
After a relationship breakdown in 2005 I decided to do something crazy and out of the ordinary. So I dragged my friend along to a strip club one cold dark night and took a pole dancing class - that’s where it all began!
I have since taught hundreds of people in the North East and Northumberland.
After opening NPD in 2008 three months later I came home from my honeymoon pregnant! This put my pole dancing on hold due to a difficult early pregnancy. Thankfully some fantastic girls came along to work alongside me and without them teaching for me during my pregnancy I would not have been able to keep Northern Pole Dance going. I now have around 8 other instructors regularly teaching for NPD. All of whom I trust without hesitation to provide the best, safest and most correct pole tuition to the many students we have through the doors.
I made a decision to stay in the local area while my daughter is still so young. This means I have not travelled to many of the pole events around the UK and beyond. It is only now that I am able to feel comfortable enough to leave her for prolonged periods of time in order to pursue a more active pole career.
At this moment in my life I definitely feel that I am more of an instructor than performer-particularly since having my daughter. I have not entered any competitions and competed myself - although I have choreographed many of the routines you can see performed by Northern Pole Dance students and instructors. For now, I think that the success of my students reflects my choreography and competition potential.
